Ed Lyons is in his 19th season as Bentley’s cross country and indoor & outdoor track and field coach. Overall, the 2010-11 academic year will be Lyons’ 22nd as a part of the cross country and program at Bentley, as he served as an assistant for three years from 1989-92.

Lyons has led the Bentley men’s cross country team to seven Northeast-10 Conference championships (1992, 93, 95, 97, 98, 99 and 2001) and is a seven-time NE-10 Men's Coach of the Year.

Lyons, 62, has coached 12 NCAA Division II track and cross country All-Americas and 12 ESPN  Academic All-Americas®. In 1998, he was named the U.S. Track Coaches Association Division II Cross Country East Region Coach of the Year.

Under Lyons' guidance, the Bentley track teams have also excelled in the classroom, with the team GPA regularly ranking amongst the highest of any Falcon teams.

Lyons, a Milton native who now resides in Westwood, is a 1972 graduate of Northeastern University. He was a three-year letterman in track and cross country and the Northeastern teams won numerous New England team titles.

Before joining the Bentley staff, Lyons served as the cross country and track coach at Waltham High School and also at Weymouth North High.
