Five Bentley Cross Country Runners Receive Academic Honors from USTFCCCA

WALTHAM, Mass. – Five members of the Bentley University men's and women's cross country teams, including two-time honoree Samantha Bilodeau (New Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic Reg. HS), were named 2021 All-Academic Athletes by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Also recognized were junior Nick Ondr (Ozark, Mo./Glendale HS) and freshmen Caitlin Burmester (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin HS), Sam Capobianco (North Reading/Phillips Andover Acad.) and Lauren Joseph (Coventry, R.I./Coventry HS).

In addition, both the Bentley men's and women's teams received All-Academic honors for their success in the classroom during the fall semester. The men's team amassed a 3.442 GPA and the women achieved a 3.393.

Individual All-Academic honors were awarded to those athletes who have compiled a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25 and finished among the top 30 percent of eligible runners at the NCAA regional championship.

Ondr was Bentley's top finisher in the NCAA Division II East Regional, placing 29th overall.  Capobianco, who had a solid rookie season, followed in 54th.

In the women's race, Burmester was 44th, Joseph 48th and Bilodeau 69th.

Bilodeau and Ondr are both majoring in information systems and audit control, with Bilodeau also majoring in liberal studies. Capobianco is a finance major, and both Burmester and Joseph have yet to declare.
