4 Bentley Runners Receive All-Region Recognition from USTFCCCA

WALTHAM, Mass. – By virtue of their performance in the NCAA Division II East Regional earlier this month, four Bentley University cross country runners received All-Region recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

They are seniors Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) and Julia Morena (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS), junior Graham Chapski (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich HS) and sophomore Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./Goffstown HS). The Falcons' four honorees were the third most of any East Region institution.

Haas was honored for the third time, Morena and Murphy for the second and Chapski made his inaugural appearance on the All-Region team.

Student-athletes were accorded the All-Region designation by finishing among the top 25 runners at the regional.

In the men's race, Chapski was Bentley's top finisher, crossing ninth with a 10,000-meter time of 32:02.6. That was an improvement of 35 seconds and 19 places from 2015.

Haas followed in 14th, posting a time of 32:11.1. Previously, he was 20th in 2015, 15th in 2014 and 59th as a freshman.

Murphy had a nearly identical finish as last year, improving by one position and 1.6 seconds, as he was 21st across the line in 32:19.5.

Morena took eighth in the women's regional with her 6,000-meter time of 22:05.3 putting her in eighth place. Last year, she finished 18th in 22:21.1.

The Bentley men's team finished third overall to earn a return trip to the NCAA Division II Championships, which will be held this Saturday in Saint Leo, Fla.
