Bentley Cross Country Set for Northeast-10 Championships with Both Teams Forecasted to Finish 3rd

CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL | RECORD BOOK

WALTHAM, Mass. – The 2016 Northeast-10 Conference Cross Country Championships will be contested Saturday at Stonehill College with the Bentley University men's and women's teams both forecast to finish third by a pre-meet poll of coaches. The men will start at 11 am and the women will follow an hour later.

The women trailed 14-time champion Stonehill College and Assumption College in the voting while the men's team was projected behind defending champion American International and Stonehill. On the women's side, Stonehill collected 14 of 15 first-place votes and 196 points, Assumption had one and 175, and Bentley's point total was 154. The men, with 166 points, was 27 back of AIC (12 firsts) and 14 behind Stonehill (2 firsts).

Bentley's men's team will have the top five finishers from its trip to Missouri last November for the NCAA Division II Championships: seniors Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) and Eric Alatalo (Wilmington), juniors Graham Chapski (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich HS) and Ryan Cadorette (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy), and sophomore Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./Goffstown HS).

Cadorette was Bentley's number one finisher in the 2015 conference championships, placing 11th overall. Chapski has been the team's best so far this season as he was the first Falcon across the line at both the Trevecca Nazarene Division II Showcase and the New Englands.

On the women's side, senior Julia Morena (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) was fourth last year and is expected to lead the Falcons again. The three who finished in front of her in 2015 are also back this season, including defending champion Nicole Borofski (Stonehill).

Freshman Paige Fehskens (Wareham/Wareham HS) has been Bentley's number two runner this season and was 17th among NE-10 student-athletes at the New Englands two weeks ago.

Last year, the Bentley women finished second and the men's team was fifth.

Following the conference championships, Bentley will have two weeks to prepare for the NCAA Division II East Regional (Nov. 5 at Hopkinton, N.H.).
