WALTHAM, Mass. -- Four members of the Bentley University cross country teams were recently named to the 2010 Academic All-Northeast-10 Conference team. Among those earning the distinction were seniors Sean Reagan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus HS) and Lauren Lesniak (Dracut/Dracut HS).

Also selected were sophomores John Drago (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) and Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS).

Those four were among nine Bentley student-athletes who recently received 2010 Division II Cross Country All-Academic honors from the United States Track & field and Cross Country Coaches Association. That list also included junior Evelyn Marrero (Amsterdam, N.Y./Amsterdam HS), sophomores Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS), Craig Robinson (Scarborough, Maine/ Scarborough HS) and Curtis Trueb (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester HS), and freshman Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS).

Bentley's total of nine USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees was the most of any NCAA Division II East Region program.

Requirements for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team include compiling a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or greater, completing at least 12 credit hours in the semester of cross country competition, and placed in the top 30 percent at the NCAA regional championship (or the top 50 percent at the nationals).

In addition, both the Bentley men's and women's teams were selected as Cross Country All-Academic Teams by the USTFCCCA.  Earning that distinction required a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better.

Lesniak, who majors in accountancy, was one of the team's top five in each of the four races that she participated in and was 40th in the NCAA Regional. Owner of a 3.91 GPA, she was a third-team All-Conference honoree and the team MVP in 2009. This is her second appearance on the NE-10 All-Academic team in cross country.

Varsell, a corporate finance and accounting major with a 3.90 GPA, earned second-team All-Conference honors after finishing 11th in the NE-10 championships. She was one of the team's top four runners in the three races she ran and was 33rd in the NCAA Regional.

Drago was among Bentley's top five in all six races he ran, with finishes of 24th in the Northeast-10 Championships and 36th in the NCAA Regional.  He has compiled a 3.85 GPA through his first three collegiate semesters while pursuing a double-major, corporate finance and accounting and liberal studies.

Reagan, who has amassed a 3.80 GPA while majoring in corporate finance and accounting, was one of Bentley's top seven in the team's final five meets of the season. He finished 29th in the conference championships and 39th in the regional meet. Reagan previously was selected to the 2010 indoor track and 2010 outdoor track Academic All-NE-10 teams.

Trueb was 11th in the conference championships and 25th in the NCAA Regional, and Robinson's finishes were 26th and 37th, respectively.

In the women's regional, Nichols was 13th, Fahey 25th and Marrero 28th.
