Duval Places 6th in 10,000 at New Englands

DEDHAM, Mass. – Bentley University junior Cole Duval (Tolland/Mount Everett HS) finished sixth in the 10,000 meters during the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championships at Northeastern University's Solomon Track on Friday.

Duval's 31:35.06 bettered his previous best, set a week ago at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, by about 17 seconds and was good for sixth on Bentley's all-time list. It was the best by a Falcon since 2012.

In the 4x800 on Saturday, Bentley finished eighth with the quartet of junior Matthew Chicko (North Andover/North Andover HS), freshman Ryan Orr (Stonington, Conn./Stonington HS) and seniors Brice Tolan (Abington/Abington HS) and Jack Deehan (Westwood/Westwood HS) posting a time of 7:48.37.

Earlier in the day, Tolan was 23rd in the 1500 with a 4:03.07.

Sophomore Alex Lawes (Brick, N.J./Brick Township HS) and junior Evan Bean (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa HS) were 26th and 27th, respectively, in the 400 hurdles. Lawes finished in 57:17 and Beans trailed his teammate by :08 seconds.

Bean and Lawes were also part of Bentley's 4x400 relay team that was 15th in 3:28.29. Sophomore Andrew Goehrig (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) and freshman John Jennings (North Reading/North Reading HS) ran the other two legs.

The only member of the women's team to compete in the New Englands was sophomore Caitlin Burmester (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin HS), who was 22nd in the 1500 (4:45.57).
