Lawes & Deehan Lead Bentley During Day 2 of Northeast-10 Champions

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Northeast-10 Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships concluded Saturday at Southern New Hampshire University with Bentley University's top performances including sixth-place finishes by sophomore Alex Lawes (Brick, N.J./Brick Township HS) and senior Jack Deehan (Westwood/Westwood HS).

Lawes was sixth in the 400 meter hurdles finals, finishing in 56.18 seconds, and Deehan had the same finish in the 800 with a 1:56.46. Both had punched their tickets for the finals on Friday, as did junior Evan Bean (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa HS), who finished seventh with his 56.66 a new personal best by 0.73 seconds. It was also good for fourth on Bentley's all-time list in the event.

In the 4x100, Bentley finished fifth with junior Ryan Dennehy (Andover, Mass./Andover HS), senior Jonathan Solimine (Braintree/Braintree HS) and sophomores Isaiah Decias (Ozone Park, N.Y./Hudson Catholic HS) and Andrew Goehrig (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) running the fastest time by a Falcon quartet, 43.07, since 2013.

Seventh place finishes were achieved by graduate student Sirish Modhagala (North Arlington, N.J./North Arlington HS) in the steeplechase (10:20.97), junior Cole Duval (Tolland, Mass./Mount Everett HS) in the 5000 (15:42.18) and the 4x400 relay team of Bean, Lawes, Goehrig and senior Brice Tolan (Abington, Mass./Abington HS). Their time of 3:25.88 was tenth best in program history. Modhagala, in the steeplechase, lowered his PR by nearly 19 seconds.

In the team standings, Bentley finished seventh among nine teams with 36 points.

Next weekend, selected members of the team will compete in the New England Championships at Northeastern's Solomon Track in Dedham.
