Bentley Men Post 9 Top-5 Finishes at Stonehill; Lawes 1st in 400 Hurdles

EASTON, Mass. – Members of the Bentley University men's outdoor track and field team amassed nine top-five finishes Saturday during the Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational at W.B. Moore Stadium.

Leading the way was sophomore Alex Lawes (Brick, N.J./Brick HS) with a winning performance in the 400 meter hurdles. With a time of 55.54 seconds, he crossed the line 2.49 seconds in front of runner-up Cameron Lloyd (Holy Cross). Lawes was also sixth of 11 in the 110 high hurdles (16.97).

Three of Bentley's top five finishes came in the 800. Senior Jack Deehan (Westwood/Westwood HS) was second (1:56.18), freshman Ryan Orr (Stonington, Conn./Stonington HS) was third (1:56.27) and senior Brian Tolan (Abington/Abington HS) was fifth (1:56.93). On the Northeast-10 performance list, they moved into the top ten at seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively.

Bentley was also second in the 4x100 relay with junior Ryan Dennehy (Andover/Andover HS), senior Jonathan Solimine (Braintree/Braintree HS) and sophomores  Isaiah Decias (Ozone Park, N.Y./Hudson Catholic HS) and Andrew Goehrig (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) putting up a 43.28.

Junior Evan Bean (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa HS) was third in the 400 hurdles (58.70), and freshman Quinn Riesenberg (North Reading/North Reading HS) was fourth in the long jump with his distance of 20 feet, 5.25 inches a new personal best by more than a foot.

Fifth-place finishes were achieved by freshmen Parker Rush (Rumford, R.I./LaSalle Academy) in the javelin (157'9") and Casey O'Connor (North Reading/North Reading HS) in the hammer throw (139'5").

Bentley's next competition will be the Northeast-10 Conference championships Friday and Saturday at Southern New Hampshire University.
