Tolan & Chicko Lead Bentley During Annual Trip to San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Senior Brice Tolan (Abington, Mass./Abington HS) and junior Matthew Chicko (North Andover, Mass./North Andover HS) were the top performers for the Bentley University men's track and field team during its annual trip to the west coast for the University of California-San Diego Trito Invitational Saturday.

Tolan moved to number two on the Northeast-10 performance list in the 1500 as he became only the second conference runner this season to break four minutes. His 3:56.99 was good for 12th among 61 competitors. Tolan also ran the 800 in 2:04.81.

Chicko's 1:58.03 in the 800 bettered his personal best by 0.11 seconds and elevated him to number three on the NE10 list. He placed 23rd among 69 runners.

Sophomore Alex Lawes (Brick, N.J./Brick Township HS) and junior Evan Bean (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa HS) are sixth and seventh, respectively, on the conference performance list in the 400 hurdles following Saturday's action. Lawes was ninth of 23 in 56.86 and Bean placed 11th in 57.47, a PR by 0.70 seconds.

Another PR was achieved by senior Jonathan Solimine (Braintree, Mass./Braintree HS) with an 11.47 in the 100.

Other members of the team competed in the Jim Sheehan Invitational at Fitchburg State University on Saturday. Bentley's highest finish was achieved by sophomore Andrew Goehrig (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS), who was fourth of 32 in the 400. He finished in 53.10, bettering his previous best by 0.55 seconds.

Two Falcons were in the top eight in the javelin with freshman Parker Rush (Rumford, R.I./LaSalle Academy) sixth of 45 (154'3") and junior Nick Dadasis (Norfolk, Mass./King Philip Reg. HS) eighth (152'11"). That improved on his previous best by six inches.

Junior Ryan Dennehy (Andover, Mass./Andover HS) was the team's top sprinter at Fitchburg. He was 16th of 68 in the 100 (11.67) and 12th of 66 in the 200 (23.34).

Next Saturday, Bentley will participate in the Merrimack College Alumni Classic.
