Laput Selected To NABC Division II All-America Team; Also Recognized by the D2CCA

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University junior guard Zach Laput (Beacon Falls, Conn./Notre Dame HS), who led the Falcons to a 23-7 record and a second straight appearance in the NCAA Division II East Regional championship game, has been selected as an NCAA Division II All-America by the National Basketball Coaches Association.

In addition, Laput was voted as a second-team Division II Conference Commissioners' Association All-America by the region's sports information directors. He was one of nine to receive All-America recognition from both organizations.

Laput led the Northeast-10 in scoring with a 20.4 average and his 611 points was the ninth highest single season total in program history. He also averaged 6.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and one steal while shooting .539 overall, .413 from three and .827 from the foul line. Laput was one of only two players in the conference to put up a 50-40-80 shooting season.

Laput scored at least 20 in 20 games, with highs of 30 against Franklin Pierce, 29 against Le Moyne and 28, also against the Dolphins. There were also six double-doubles and seven games with at least five assists.

Previous honors for Laput this season have included D2CCA East Region Player of the Year, Northeast-10 Player of the Year, first-team NABC Division II All-East Region, first-team D2CCA All-East Region, first-team All-Northeast-10, NCAA East Regional All-Championship Team and three-time Northeast-10 Player of the Week. He scored his 1,000th career point March 1 at Saint Anselm College.

Laput is the eighth NABC All-America in program history, joining Ryan Richmond (2019), Tyler McFarland (2016), Jason Westrol (2009, 2010), Nate Fritsch (2008), Tim Forbes (2006), Brian Hammel (1974, 1975) and Al Grenfell (1975).
