Ambroult, Burmester & Deehan Advance to Northeast-10 Finals; O’Connor Breaks School Record

BOSTON, Mass. – A trio of Bentley University student-athletes – junior Lucy Ambroult (Holbrook/Holbrook HS), sophomore Caitlin Burmester (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin HS) and senior Jack Deehan (Westwood/Westwood HS) – advanced to Friday's finals during day one of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships Thursday at the Track at New Balance.

The opening day also included the men's distance medley relay team finishing sixth and freshman Casey O'Connor (North Reading/North Reading HS) breaking an eight-year-old school record.

Burmester was fourth in the trials of the 800 meters with her 2:18.92 a personal best by 1.21 seconds and good for fourth on Bentley's all-time list. Ambroult qualified for the finals of the 60. Her qualifying time of 8.00 seconds put her sixth among 25 runners.

Deehan's 1:56.31 in the 800 was good for seventh among 27 runners in the prelims and earned him one of eight spots in Friday's finals.

In the men's DMR, Bentley earned its only points of the day with junior Finn Power (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme HS) teaming with freshmen John Jennings (North Reading/North Reading HS), Ryan Orr (Stonington, Conn./Stonington HS) and Max Lampe (North Haven, Conn./Salisbury School) finishing in 10:45.30.

O'Connor's distance of 43 feet, 2.5 inches in the weight throw broke the record owned by Wes Dupray since 2015 by one inch. He finished 11th among 19 athletes in the event.

Other day one highlights for the Falcon men included ninth in the 5000 by junior Cole Duval (Tolland/Mount Everett HS), with his 15:59.55 a PR by nearly 19 seconds, and a tenth from Orr in the 800 (1:56.91).

In addition to Ambroult's performance in the 60, freshman HaiLian Rowan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland HS) and senior Hannah Greene (Weston, Conn./Weston HS) set PRs in the event and climbed on Bentley's all-time list. Rowan's 8.12 was good for 13th and moved her to sixth in Bentley history. Greene's 8.27 put her in 16th place and elevated her to 11th all-time at Bentley.
