Deehan, Caplan Top Finishers for Bentley during GBTC Invitational

ALLSTON, Mass. – Seniors Jack Deehan (Westwood/Westwood HS) and Jason Caplan (Westport, Conn./Staples HS) had the top individual finishes for the Bentley University men's indoor track and field team Sunday during the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational at Harvard University's Gordon Track and Tennis Center.

In the 600 meters, Deehan set a new personal best and was fourth of 20 with a 1:24.17. Freshman Ryan Orr (Stonington, Conn./Stonington HS) followed in sixth with his time 1:24.47. Both moved into the top six on Bentley's all-time list in the seldom-contested event with Deehan third and Orr sixth.

Caplan was fourth of 19 in the shot following a throw of 36 feet, 5.5 inches. Also in the shot, freshman Casey O'Connor (North Reading/North Reading HS) was seventh (35'3.25").

Junior Matthew Chicko (North Andover/North Andover HS) moved to eighth in the Northeast-10 Conference performance list in the 800 as he finished fifth in the invitational section of that event with a 2:00.76.

Bentley had success in the 4x220 yard relay with two of the top four finishers. Sophomore Andrew Goehrig (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS), juniors Evan Bean (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa HS) and Ryan Dennehy (Andover/Andover HS), and freshman John Jennings (North Reading/North Reading HS) were third in 1:37.39. Right behind them in fourth were Orr and sophomores Hayden Pike (South Weymouth/Weymouth HS), Alex Lawes (Brick, N.J./Brick Township HS) and  Jared Podrazik (Ashburnham/Oakmont Reg. HS), in 1:37.61.

Next Saturday, Bentley will be at The Track at New Balance for the Riverhawk Invitational.
