Solimine Leads Bentley Men During Reggie Poyau Invitational

WALTHAM, Mass. – A second-place finish by senior Jonathan Solimine (Braintree/Braintree HS) was the best for the Bentley University men's indoor track and field team during the Reggie Poyau Invitational at the Brandeis University Gosman Sports and Convocation Center.

Solimine finished second among 35 runners in the 60 meter dash, posting a time of 7.20 seconds. He was the number one qualifier with a 7.23 and in both races, established a new personal best. Solimine was also 13th of 44 in the 200 meters with a 24.43.

Freshman Ryan Orr (Stonington, Conn./Stonington HS) and senior Brice Tolan (Abington/Abington HS) both scored in the 1,000 meters. Orr was third of 15 with a 2:40.11 and Tolan followed in fourth (2:43.69).

Bentley also had two runners score in the 400 with sophomore Alex Lawes (Brick, N.J./Brick Township HS) fourth (53.60) and junior Evan Bean (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa HS) fifth (54.20). Also in the 18-competitor event, sophomore Hayden Pike (South Weymouth/Weymouth HS) was ninth (55.09).

Junior Cole Duval (Tolland/Mount Everett HS) was sixth in a field of 17 in the 3,000 (9:34.45) and Bentley had two of the top eight in the shot put. Freshman Casey O'Connor (North Reading/North Reading HS) was seventh (37'7.25") and senior Jason Caplan (Westport, Conn./Staples HS) was eighth (37'5.25").

Another seventh-place finish was achieved by senior Jack Deehan (Westwood/Westwood HS) in the mile (4:37.89).

Bentley finished sixth among nine teams with 25 points. Assumption was the team champion with the Greyhounds outscoring runner-up Merrimack, 115-84.

Bentley's next competition is the Greater Track Club Championships at Harvard Jan. 22.
