Bentley Men’s Track & Field Achieves Season-Bests during George Davis Invitational

LOWELL, Mass. – The outdoor track and field season continued for the Bentley University men's track and field team Saturday with the Falcons competing in the predominantly Division I George Davis Invitational at UMass-Lowell.

Season bests for Bentley were achieved in three events, including freshman Alex Lawes (Brick, N.J./Brick Township HS) in the 400 meters. He ran it in 51.61 seconds to place eighth among 20 competitors.

Senior Derek Wendel (Westfield, N.J./Westfield HS) tied his own team season-best in the 200 meters, placing 20th among 41 runners in 23.38 seconds.

In the shot, junior Jason Caplan (Westport, Conn./Staples HS) had the team's best throw of the season, 35 feet, 8.75 inches.

Junior Brice Tolan (Abington/Abington HS) moved to second on Bentley's all-time list in two mile, an event rarely held outside of this meet. His time of 9:28.60 put him seventh in a field of 26.

Tolan was also part of the Falcons' 4x400 relay team that placed sixth of 14 in 3:29.74.

Next Saturday, Bentley will compete in the Stonehill Invitational.
