Capobianco’s Second Top Finish for Bentley at Art Kadish Challenge

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A second by freshman Sam Capobianco (North Reading/North Reading HS) was the highest finish for a member of the Bentley University men's indoor track and field team during the Falcons' season-opening meet at Southern Connecticut State Sunday, the Art Kadish Challenge.

Capobianco, who was competing in his first indoor race as a collegian, ran the 3,000 meters in 9:02.84 and finished about three seconds back of Franklin Pierce University's Wondu Summa. Junior Nick Ondr (Ozark, Mo./Glendale HS) followed in eighth with a 9:28.78.

Junior Jack Deehan (Westwood, Mass./Westwood HS) had a pair of fourth-place finishes. He ran the mile in 4:53.48 and was part of the Falcons' 4x400 relay team the finished in 3:41.26, along with sophomore Matthew Chicko (North Andover, Mass./North Andover HS), sophomore Finn Power (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme HS) and freshman Coop Caizzo (Lunenburg, Mass./Cushing Academy). Chicko also placed seventh among 14 in the mile with a 4:58.11.

Freshman Alex Lawes (Brick, N.J./Brick Township HS) was fifth of 18 in the 600 meters (1:28.40) and part of a second Bentley 4x400 team that was fifth in 3:41.99. That quartet also included sophomore Evan Bean (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa HS), freshman Hayden Pike (South Weymouth, Mass./South Weymouth HS) and freshman Bryn Reynolds (Peru, N.Y./Peru HS).

Senior Devin Wendel (Westfield, N.J./Westfield HS) and Bean scored in the 400, placing sixth (55.59) and seventh (55.62), respectively.

Bentley, which was sixth of nine in the team standings with 30 points, has about six weeks until its next meet, the Reggie Poyau Invitational at Brandeis University Jan. 15.
