Bentley Posts Season-Best Times in 10 Events During BU Terrier Classic

BOSTON, Mass. – Members of the Bentley University men's indoor track and field team posted team season-best times in ten of 12 events while competing in the John Thomas Terrier Classic at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center Saturday.          

               Two of those performances were turned in by senior Alex Arnold (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy), who ran the 200 meters in 22.71 seconds, the sixth fastest by a Northeast-10 Conference student-athlete this season, and cleared 20 feet, 11.25 inches in the long jump.

Arnold placed 87th of 194 in the 200 and improved on his previous career best by 0.01 seconds. In the long jump, he finished 25th in a field of 44.

Senior Josh Gettings (Lowell/Lowell HS) also moved to tenth on the NE10 performance list in the 400 while finishing 69th in a field of 127. His time of 50.77 seconds was seventh-hundredths of a second of his personal best.

In the 60 meters, junior Brian Shevlin (Floral Park, N.Y./Chaminade HS) and sophomore Jared Reimer (Berlin, Conn./Berlin HS) finished among the top half of 58 runners. Shevlin was 24th with a time of 7.29 and Reimer 26th in 7.32

Freshman Joe Balboni (Tewksbury/Tewksbury HS) ran Bentley's fastest 500 so far this season, with his 1:09.98 bettering his PR by 1.45 seconds, and freshman Jack Deehan (Westwood/Westwood HS) did the same in the 800 (2:01.47).

Other Bentley season bests were achieved by sophomore Derek Pittorino (Westborough/ Westborough HS) in the mile (2:40.82), senior Ben Edwards (Morristown, N.J./Morristown HS) in the mile (4:31.84) and junior Antonio Catino (North Reading/North Reading HS) in the 60 hurdles.

Bentley finished 21st of 36 in the 4x400 relay with its 3:26.88 the Falcons' fastest of the year. Senior Shawn Andrade (Suffield, Conn./Suffield HS) led off and was followed by Gettings and sophomores Joe Wix (Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial HS) and Devin Wendel (Westfield, N.J./ Westfield HS).

Senior J.T. Brine (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point HS) threw the shot 39 feet, 11.25 inches, a Bentley season-best.

Next weekend, Bentley will be at the Reggie Lewis Center for the New England Championships.
