Sihvonen & Bentley’s 4x800 Relay Team Honored by Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University junior Holt Sihvonen (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial HS) repeated as the Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference while a quartet of Bentley women were recognized as the Women's Relay Team of the Week in the conference.

Sihvonen posted the sixth best javelin throw in Division II so far this season, a school record 214'10" (65.48), while finishing second overall at Bryant's Black and Gold Invitational on Sunday. The reigning NE10 champion shattered his own Bentley record by 14 feet, two inches, and provisionally qualified for the NCAAs.

This is the third time in his career that Sihvonen has been the recipient of the Field Athlete of the Week award.

Earning relay weekly honors were junior Marianne Bartolotta (Wantagh, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS), freshman Abbie Newman (Hanson/Whitman-Hanson Reg. HS) and sophomores Tina  Touri (Watertown/Watertown HS) and Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS).

They combined for a time of 10:05.32, a Northeast-10 season-best and good for third overall, behind a pair of Division I squads (Bryant, Rhode Island).

The Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll included Bentley freshman Josh Gettings (Lowell/Lowell HS). He ran the 400 meter hurdles in 58.98 to finish first among Division II competitors and fifth overall at Bryant. It was the second best time registered in the NE10 so far this season.

This Saturday, Bentley will be in Springfield for the American International Invitational.
