Bolick, Haas Impress in Mile during John Thomas Terrier Classic

BOSTON, Mass. – Bentley University seniors Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) and Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) impressed in the mile Saturday during the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center.

They turned in the fourth and fifth fastest mile times in the Northeast-10 Conference this season with both placing in the top 50 among 182 runners. Bolick, continuing a strong start to the indoor season, was 41st overall in 4:17.51, a new personal best by 3.98 seconds. That moved him to 14th on Bentley's all-time list, two places ahead of his father Paul, a Bentley Academic All-America during the 80's.

Haas cracked the top 50 with a 49th-place finish. His time of 4:18.44 was a season-best. Also in the mile, junior Graham Chapski (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich HS) and freshman Ben Edwards (Morristown, N.J./Morristown HS) achieved new PR's. Chapski was 71st in 4:22.79 and Edwards 73rd in 4:23.55.

Junior David Hernandez (Toyko, Japan) turned in a strong showing in the long jump, placing 19th of 46 with a personal best 21 feet, 2 inches.  That was good for 14th in program history as well as 14th on the season's NE10 performance list.

Senior Erik Alatalo (Wilmington/Wilmington HS) ran the 5,000 in 15:22.14, ninth fastest in the conference this season. In the meet, he placed 57th among 89 runners.

Sophomore Michael Carpino (Mansfield/Mansfield HS) posted the NE10's 12th best throw of the season in the shot with his 40'6.25" a new PR.

All told, Bentley student-athletes achieved at least 14 new PR's during the meet.

Next Saturday, Bentley will be in New Hampshire for the Dartmouth Invitational.
