Bolick & Edwards Post Victories during GBTC Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bentley University men's indoor track and field team received winning efforts from senior Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) and freshman Ben Edwards (Morristown, N.J./Morristown HS) during Sunday's Greater Boston Track Club Invitational at Harvard University's Gordon Indoor Track.

Bolick won his third race of the indoor season, leading a 1-2-3 Bentley effort in the open 1,000 meters. He covered the distance in 2:30.51, a personal best by 0.67 seconds and the fifth best recorded by a Northeast-10 Conference runner this winter. Junior Graham Chapski (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich HS) followed in second, also establishing a new PR (2:36.60), and senior Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) took third in 2:37.25. A total of 21 participated in the event.

Edwards also recorded his third straight victory, finishing first among 14 runners in the open 800 with a 2:00.72. Classmate Michael Cannata (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional HS) was next across the finish line with his 2:01.96 a PR by 1.67 seconds.

Junior David Hernandez (Tokyo, Japan) placed fourth of 19 in the long jump (20'10"), 17th of 54 in the 60 meters (7.48 seconds) and anchored the Falcons' 4x220 yard relay that was fifth of ten in 1:36.45, seventh best in program history.

Sixth-place finishes were recorded by freshman Alex Arnold (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) in the triple jump (40'5") and grad student Sidney Field (Leverett/Amherst Regional HS) in the 5000 (16:52.75). Arnold was also 15th of 54 in the 60 (7.46) and eighth of 19 in the long jump (19'6").

Freshman Ryan Farrar (East Greenbush, N.Y./Central Catholic HS) led a strong showing by Bentley in the seldom-contested 3000 meters. He was seventh of 24 with his time of 37.16 seconds ranking sixth in school history. Senior David Stoffel (Luxembourg) was ninth in 37.26 (seventh all-time) and freshman Tristan Leachman (Falmouth/Falmouth) was 11th (37.67, eighth best all-time by a Bentley runner).  Leachman was also 16th of 54 in the 60 (7.47).

Other solid performances included sophomore Anthony Giesing (Bradford, Vt./Oxbow HS) in the 600 (7th of 19, 1:29.15), junior Seamus Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) in the 3000 (8th of 33, 9:02.50), junior Ben Brayton (Middleboro/Middleboro HS) in the 400 (8th of 21 with a PR 54.24) and sophomore Michael Carpino (Mansfield/Mansfield HS) in the shot (9th of 25, 39'5.75").

This Saturday, Bentley will be at Boston University for the John Thomas Terrier Classic.
