Dupray & Sihvonen Impress During Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational

EASTON, Mass. – Senior  Wes Dupray (Rowley/St. John's Prep) and sophomore Holt Sihvonen (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial HS) were among the top performers for the Bentley University men's track and field team during Saturday's Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational at W.B. Mason Stadium.

Dupray broke Steven Long's four-year-old school record in the hammer by nine feet with a throw of 139 feet on his second attempt of the afternoon.  He also broke it on his first throw of the competition,  with a distance of 131'6". In the meet, he was sixth of 14 overall.

Sihvonen registered a victory in the javelin for the fourth straight week, prevailing by nearly 23 feet over runner-up Myles Connor with a throw of 199 feet.

Junior Matt Powell (Charlton/St. John's HS) set a new career best in the long jump with his leap of 20'8.5" good for a tie for second among 15 competitors.

Bentley had four of the top 13 finishers in the 1500 meters with junior Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./ Ramsey HS) leading the way for the Falcons. His 3:56.82 put him second among 40 runners, trailing only Stonehill's Lucas Taxter (3:54.29). Senior Sean Nee (West Yarmouth/Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. HS) was eighth (4:02.36), classmate David Cooper (Woburn/Woburn HS) was tenth (4:02.87, a PR by more than two seconds) and sophomore Graham Chapski (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich HS) finished 13th (4:03.45).

Fourth-place finishes were posted by juniors David Stoffel (Luxenbourg) and Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS). Stoffel was one of 22 who ran the 200 with his time 22.93 seconds, and Bolick, one of 28 in the 400, set a new PR of 1:55.41.

Senior Sidney Field (Leverett/Amherst Regional HS) was third of seven in the 5,000, with his time of 16:17.92 bettering his previous best by 3.22 seconds. In the 3,000, freshman Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./Goffstown HS) was eighth of 20 in 9:10.54.

Returning to the field events, senior Connor Hichens (Sharon/Sharon HS) was fifth in both the high jump (6'0.75") and the triple jump (42'9.5") with the former good for sixth on the Northeast-10 Conference performance list. Sophomore Beau Kraft (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point HS) was sixth of 18 in the discus (123'5") and freshman Anthony Giesing (Bradford, Vt./Oxbow HS) seventh in the javelin (154'2".

The team standings saw Bentley finish sixth of ten overall, with 108 points, and third among Division II squads, behind Stonehill and Assumption.

Bentley will be out in Springfield Friday and Saturday for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at American International College.
