Sihvonen Posts 3rd Straight Javelin Victory During Saturday’s Sean Collier Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore Holt Sihvonen (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial HS) accounted for the only win for the Bentley University men's outdoor track and field team during Saturday's Sean Collier Invitational at MIT's Henry Steinbrenner Stadium.

Sihvonen took first in the javelin for the third straight week, using a throw of 194 feet, seven inches to outdistance 31 other competitors.  Also representing Bentley in the event were senior Joe Simonini (Revere/Revere HS) (9th, 155'1") and freshman Anthony Giesing (Bradford, Vt./Oxbow HS) (14th, 145'4").

Bentley registered third-place finishes in three running events. Senior Tom Dean (Portland, Maine/Deering HS) was third of 41 with his 1:56.04 a personal best by more than two seconds. Also in the 800, junior Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) was fifth in 1:57.87 and senior Anthony Lacey (Ogdensburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII) was 11th (2:01.33).

In the 1500, Bentley's third-place finisher was sophomore Graham Chapski (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich HS). He improved on his PR by 4.37 seconds with his 4:02.24 tenth best in the Northeast-10 Conference this season. Sophomore Seamus Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) was seventh (4:07.31), freshman Daniel Hergott (Wallingford, Conn./Xavier HS) was 11th (4:10.42) and senior Adam Gidley (Salem, N.H./Central Catholic HS) was 12th (4:10.59). All were new personal bests.

Senior Tom Dean (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS) and freshman Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./Goffstown HS) were third and fourth, of 17, in the 5,000 meters. Dean finished in 15:40.40 and Murphy followed him across the line 43 seconds later.

Senior Connor Hichens (Sharon/Sharon HS) was sixth of 16 in the high jump (6'0") and eighth of 16 in the triple jump (42'11.75"). His high jump height put him sixth on the NE-10 performance list and his effort in the triple put him at number 13 in the NE-10.

Sophomore Beau Kraft (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point HS) was fifth of 37 in the discus (125'1"), junior David Stoffel (Luxenbourg) posted a PR while finishing 10th of 56 in the 200 (22.78), junior Matt Powell (Charlton/St. John's HS) was 11th of 31 in the long jump (20'2.25") and senior Wes Dupray (Rowley/St.John's Prep) was 13th of 33 in the hammer with his 129'1" a new PR.

Next Saturday, Bentley will compete in the Stonehill Invitational.
