Sihvonen, Nee Lead Bentley Men During AIC Yellow Jacket Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Holt Sihvonen (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial HS) posted his second victory in three weeks and senior Sean Nee (West Yarmouth/Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. HS) finished second in the 1500 meters to lead the Bentley University men's track and field team during Saturday's Yellow Jacket Invitational at American International College.

Sihvonen threw the javelin 192 feet, the best among 35 competitors in the event, with a winning margin of nearly 12 feet over runner-up Steve Tencati of UMass-Dartmouth. He achieved the distance on his first throw of the afternoon.

Also placing in the top nine in the javelin for the Falcons were senior Joe Simonini (Revere/Revere HS) and freshman Anthony Giesing (Bradford, Vt./Oxbow HS). Simonini was third with his season-best throw of 171'3" elevating him to number seven on the season's Northeast-10 Conference performance list, and Giesing was ninth with his 154'1" improving on his previous collegiate best by about 20 feet. Giesing also achieved a PR of 53.19 seconds in the 400 meters.

Bentley dominated the 90-runner field in the 1500 meters with seven of the top 14 finishers. At the top of that list of Falcons was Nee, whose 3:57.73 was bettered only by AIC's Leakey Kipkosgei.  Nee's afternoon also included a PR in the 400 with his 51.96 performance good for 16th among 43 competitors.
