Two 5th Place Finishes & A School Record on Final Day of New Englands for Bentley Men

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bentley University men's track and field team closed out the indoor season Saturday with two fifth-place finishes and the breaking of a 32-year-old school record during the final day of the New England (NEICAAA) Championships at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

The record came in the 4x800 meter relay with sophomore Nick Skarin (Sunapee, N.H./ Sunapee HS), senior Sean Nee (West Yarmouth/Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. HS), junior Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) and sophomore Graham Chapski (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich HS) combining for a time of 7:40.52. That was good for fifth place amongst 19 teams and All-New England accolades.

Their time broke the school record of 7:46.0, set by Dan Rowley, Mager Walker, Jerry Carchedi and Ron Moreau back in 1984 during the Greater Boston Track Club Championships.

Graduate student Steve Maffiolini (Southington, Conn./Southington HS), in his final race as a collegian, took fifth in the 500 meters to earn All-New England honors. Amazingly, he posted the exact same time (1:05.40) that he ran in Friday's prelims

Junior Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) set a new personal record in the mile, finishing in 4:16.79 to place 18th of 29 overall and fourth among Division II competitors.

Bentley, as a team, finished in 28th place with eight points.
