Nee Breaks 4-Year-Old School Record in the 600; Skarin Finishes 1st in Invitational 800

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A school record-breaking performance by senior Sean Nee (West Yarmouth/Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. HS) highlighted the list of performances for the Bentley University men's indoor track team during Sunday's Greater Boston Track Club Invitational at Harvard University.

Nee ran the 600 meters in 1:22.44 to strike Mike Vatti's 1:23.11, achieved in December 2011, from the record book. He finished second of 21 in the race, trailing only Alexander Engel of the Boston-North Track Club (1:21.20).

The Falcons' only victory came in the invitational 800 with sophomore Nick Skarin (Sunapee, N.H./Sunapee HS) prevailing in 1:55.60, a time that ranks ninth on the program's all-time list.

Bentley's other second place finish was achieved by sophomore Beau Kraft (Bayport, N.Y./ Bayport-Blue Point HS) in the shot put. Competing in a field of 16, he uncorked a throw of 44 feet, 6.75 inches. That was a personal best by just over ten inches, the seventh best in program history and good for eighth on the Northeast-10 performance list.

Junior Michael Bitto (North Reading/North Reading HS)achieved a PR of 53.96 seconds while finishing sixth of 28 in the 400 meters.

In the mile, sophomore Ryan Cadorette (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy), classmate Seamus Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) and senior David Cooper (Woburn/Woburn HS) each finished in the top third of the 42 runners. Cadorette was 10th (PR of 4:27.06), Higgins was 12th (4:32.29, also a PR) and Cooper was 14th (4:35.32).

Eighth-place finishes were achieved by freshman Nick Carroll (Randolph/Boston College HS) in the shot (35'6"), sophomore Dillon Sylvester (Franklin, N.H./Franklin HS) in the 60 hurdles (9.37, PR) and senior Wes Dupray (Rowley/St. John's Prep) in the weight throw (39'3.25").

Junior Eric Alatalo (Wilmington/Wilmington HS) improved on his previous best time and finished 19th among 59 runners in the 3,000 with a 9:00,.51.

Bentley will be at Boston University this coming Saturday for the John Thomas Terrier Classic.
