Skarin & Nee Among Bentley Winners in Reggie Poyau Invitational

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior Sean Nee (West Yarmouth/Dennis-Yarmouth HS) and sophomore teammate Nick Skarin (Sunapee, N.H./Sunapee HS) each won an individual event and helped the Falcons capture the 4x400 meter relay during Saturday's Reggie Poyau Invitational at Brandeis University's Gosman Center.

Nee prevailed in the 14-man 800 meters with a 2:00.57, finishing 2:59 seconds ahead of junior teammate and runner-up Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS). Skarin's victory came in the 600 with a clocking of 1:26.57.

In the relay, those two combined with junior Brad Barthelmes (Buchanan, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson HS) and grad student Steve Maffiolini (Southington, Conn./Southington HS) for a winning time of 3:39.82.

Sophomore Ryan Cadorette (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) won the 3000 meters in 8:52.28, a personal best by 6.26 seconds and the ninth best recorded in the Northeast-10 Conference so far this season. Also in the 3,000, freshman Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./Goffstown HS) was fifth (9:09.52) and sophomore Seamus Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) followed in sixth (9:24.03).

Bentley went 1-2 in the long jump with senior Connor Hichens (Sharon/Sharon HS) clearing 21 feet and junior Matt Powell (Charlton/St. John's HS) following with a 19'9.75" distance.

Other thirds for the Falcons were achieved by senior Anthony Lacey (Ogdensburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII HS) in the 600 (1:29.94) and sophomore Dillon Sylvester (Franklin, N.H./Franklin HS) in the 55 hurdles (8.66).

Fourth-place finishes were earned by sophomore Ben Brayton (Middleboro/Middleboro HS) in the 400 (54.53, a PR), Powell in the 55 hurdles (8.76, also a PR) and freshman Nick Carroll (Randolph/ Boston College HS) in the shot (35'2.5").

In the team standings, Bentley was third among five teams. The Falcons totaled 99 points to finish behind Fitchburg State (144) and Brandeis (111).

Next Sunday, Bentley will compete in the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational at Harvard.
