Haas Excels in Mile during David Hemery Valentine’s Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) turned in a strong performance in the mile while competing for the Bentley University men's indoor track and field team in Saturday's BU David Hemery Invitational at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

Haas posted a time of 4:16.07, a personal best by 3.69 seconds, to move into ninth on Bentley's all-time list. It qualified him for the New England and was the eighth best posted by a Northeast-10 Conference runner this season. On the day, Haas placed 92nd among 314 competitors with 76 of the 91 runners in front of him representing Division I and club teams.

A total of 24 Bentley student-athletes competed in the massive meet, participating in a total of 26 events, and new PRs were established in a dozen of them.

 Seven of those came in the mile with PRs also achieved by senior David Cooper (Woburn/Woburn HS) (4:24.83), sophomore Cullen McHale (Burlington, Conn./ Lewis S. Mills) (4:26.96), freshman Ryan Cadorette (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) (4:34.45), freshman Seamus Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) (4:34.90), sophomore Andrew McCluskey (Bridgewater/Coyle Cassidy HS) (4:36.04) and sophomore Greg Karpacz (Wayland/Wayland HS) (4:38.07).

Sophomore David Stoffel (Luxembourg) achieved two new PRs with times of 23.75 seconds in the 200 meters and 52.55 in the 400. Those were new personal bests by 0.35 and 1.50 seconds, respectively.

Next Saturday, Bentley will compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
