Charter & Haas Lead Bentley Men during Tufts Cupid Challenge

MEDFORD, Mass. – Senior Anthony Charter (Hubbardston/Quabbin Reg. HS) and sophomore Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) were the standouts for the Bentley University men's indoor track and field team during the Tufts Cupid Challenge Saturday at the Gantcher Center.

Charter took second in a 44-athlete field in the long jump, clearing 21 feet, 3.5 inches. He was also 11th in the triple jump after posting a distance of 41 feet, 3.75 inches.

In those two field events, junior Connor Hichens (Sharon/Sharon HS) also performed well for the Falcons. He was eighth in the triple (42'2.25") and tenth in the long jump (20'1.75").

Haas moved to tenth on the Northeast-10 Conference performance list in the 1000 meters by placing third of 39 with a 2:35.02.

In the 600, senior Christian Connolly (Kingston/Silver Lake Regional HS) bettered his PR by 0.24 seconds with his 1:25.40 good for fourth among 36 competitors. Freshman Nick Skarin (Sunapee, N.H./Sunapee HS) also scored in the event, placing seventh with a 1:25.69.

Sophomore Cullen McHale (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) shattered his PR in the 3000 by about 14 seconds, breaking nine minutes for the first time with an 8:54.58. That made him the sixth man across the finish line in a field of 41. Also in the 3K, freshman Ryan Cadorette (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) achieved a PR while placing 15th in 9:04.04, and sophomore Erik Alatalo (Wilmington/Wilmington HS) was 18th in 9:08.55.

Freshman Beau Kraft (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point HS) and junior John Chiulli (Lynbrook, N.Y./ Lynbrook HS) were among the top finishers in the shot put. Kraft's 41'4.5" put him ninth of 49 and Chiulli was 14th (39'6.5").

As a team, Bentley placed 13th of 20 with 25 points.

Next Saturday, the Falcons will be at Boston University for the David Hemery Valentine's Invitational.
