Uthman-Olukokun Qualifies for Northeast-10 Finals in 100 & 200

NORTH EASTON, Mass. – Bentley University sophomore Edy-Elliot Uthman-Olukokun (West Warwick, R.I./West Warwick HS) qualified for Saturday's finals in both the 100 and 200 meters during the opening day of the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Stonehill College's W.B. Mason Stadium on Friday.

Uthman-Olukokun was the number one qualifier in the 100, finishing in 10.95 seconds, six-hundredths of a second faster than the number two finisher, Darnell Butler of Assumption. Later in the day, Uthman-Olukokun finished second in his heat and had the fourth-best qualifying time in the 200, 22.39 seconds.

Bentley's best opening day performance in a final was posted by junior Chris Ricci (Coventry, R.I./Bishop Hendricken HS) in the javelin. He placed fifth in a field of 15 with a throw of 168'10".

In the 10,000 meters, junior Mac Segura-Cook (Northwood, N.H./Coe-Brown Northwood Acad.) and freshman Erik Alatalo (Wilmington/Wilmington HS) were eighth and tenth, respectively. Segura-Cook finished in 33:36.31 and Alatalo's time was 34:32.89.

Bentley was seventh in the 4x800 relay with the quartet of senior Conor Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS), junior Christian Connolly (Kingston/Silver Lake Reg. HS), sophomore Sean Nee (West Yarmouth/Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. HS) and freshman Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) recording a 7:49.94.

Freshman Matt Powell (Charlton/St. John's Shrewsbury HS) competed in the decathlon and will begin Saturday's second day of competition fourth in a field of six with 2,813 points. He was second in the long jump (20'7.75") and third in the 400 (54.85 seconds).

Saturday's action will begin at 10 am.
