Uthman-Olukokun, Nee & Beckwith Amongst Top Performers for Bentley at GBTC Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomores Edy-Elliot Uthman-Olukokun (West Warwick, R.I./West Warwick HS) and Sean Nee (West Yarmouth/Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. HS), along with freshman Eric Beckwith (North Attleboro/North Attleboro HS), were among the top performers for the Bentley University men's indoor track and field team during Sunday's Greater Boston Track Club Invitational at Harvard University. The meet was the first for the Falcons in about six weeks.

Uthman-Olukokun was second among 31 competitors in the high jump, clearing 21 feet, 4.25 inches. Right behind him was classmate Connor Hichens (Sharon/Sharon HS), third in 21 feet, 2.75 inches.

Uthman-Olukokun was also seventh of 50 in the 60 meters (7.15 seconds) and seventh of 14 in the triple jump (40'6.25"). Bentley was well represented in that latter event with junior Anthony Charter (Hubbardston/Quabbin Reg. HS) second (43'3.75"), freshman Lawrence Greenidge (Randolph/Boston College HS) fourth (42'0") and Hichens sixth (41'6.5").

Nee registered the season's the third-best 1,000-meter time amongst Northeast-10 Conference athletes with his 2:35.43 good for fourth among 14 runners. He also helped Bentley take second in the 4x440 yard relay, combining with senior Conor Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS), junior Christian Connolly (Kingston/Silver Lake Reg. HS) and sophomore Anthony Lacey (Ogdensburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII HS) for a 3:37.38.

Beckwith, in his collegiate track debut, threw the shot 46 feet, four inches to debut at number two on Bentley's all-time list. That put him third among 16 competitors in the meet.

Bentley had four of the top nine finishers in the 800 meters with freshman Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) and sophomore David Cooper (Woburn/Woburn HS) first and second, respectively. Bolick broke the tape in 2:02.43, Cooper followed in 2:03.53, freshman Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) was seventh in 2:05.54 and classmate Greg Karpacz (Wayland/Wayland HS) was ninth in 2:06.97. A total of 31 runners competed in the 800.

Freshman Matt Powell (Charlton/St. John's Shrewsbury HS) finished third of seven in the high jump (5'10.75") and seventh of 31 in the long jump (20'7.25"). Sophomore Tom Dean (Portland, Maine/ Deering HS) was fifth of 40 in the 3,000 (9:05.60) and freshman Brad Barthelmes (Buchanan, N.Y./ Hendrick Hudson HS) was eighth of 25 in the 400 (54.29).

This Saturday, Bentley will compete in the Boston University Terrier Classic.
