Uthman-Olukokun A Triple-Winner during Stonehill Invitational

EASTON, Mass. – Bentley University freshman Edy-Elliot Uthman-Olukokun (West Warwick, R.I./West Warwick HS) had a busy and productive night Friday night as he won three events and competed in two others during the Stonehill Track and Field Invitational at W.B. Mason Stadium.

Uthman-Olukokun personally accounted for 34 of Bentley's 110 points, helping the Falcons place second among nine teams in the meet.

Uthman-Olukokun broke the tape in both the 100 meters (11.26 seconds) and the 200 (22.53), winning by .09 and .19 seconds respectively, and also set a new personal best while winning the long jump in 21 feet, 11 inches. That performance put him at number eight on Bentley's all-time list.

Uthman-Olukokun also combined with junior Eric Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn./ Northwest Catholic HS) and seniors Bryan Carton (Norwell/Norwell HS) and Steven Maffiolini (Southington, Conn./Southington HS) to finish second in the 4x100 relay. The quartet's time of 42.55 seconds was the third best in program history.

The freshman's night also included a seventh-place finish in the triple jump, with a leap of 40 feet, 10.25 inches.

Seniors John Drago (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) and Craig Robinson (Scarborough, Maine/ Scarborough HS) both achieved PRs while finishing 1-2 and qualifying for the New Englands in the 5,000 meters. Drago's 14:48.56 was a PR by about five seconds, Robinson's 14:50.81 improved on his personal best by 35 seconds and the two times ranked third and fourth on Bentley's all-time lists.

Sophomore John Chiulli (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook HS) had his best meet as a collegian, achieving new PRs in the shot put and discus. His discus throw of 130 feet, 4 inches bettered his previous best by more than ten inches and moved him to number four in program history, and his throw in the shot of 39 feet, 9.25 inches improved on his former standard by about six inches. In the meet, he was second of ten in the discus and fourth of eight in the shot.

Bentley's other second was achieved by sophomore Anthony Charter (Hubbardston/ Quabbin Reg. HS) with a long jump of 21 feet, 4.25 inches.

The Falcons had three athletes score in the javelin with sophomores Kyle Sullivan (Burlington/ Burlington HS) and Chris Ricci (Coventry, R.I./Bishop Hendricken HS) fifth and sixth, and freshman Jordan Morrissey (Naugatuck, Conn./Holy Cross HS) seventh. Sullivan and Morrissey set new personal bests with throws of 165 feet, 3 inches and 156 feet, 11 inches, and Ricci's distance was 160 feet, 2 inches. Morrissey also his best-ever throw in the shot, 36 feet 7 inches to place sixth.

Personal bests were also achieved by junior Connor Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) in the 1500 (eighth place, 3:58.58, ninth on Bentley's all-time list) and freshman Tom Dean (Portland, Maine/Deering HS) in the steeplechase (fourth, 10:46.96).

Bentley will be back in action Sunday with the Brown Springtime Invitational.
