Bentley Men Set School Record during Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – During the Raleigh Relays Saturday at North Carolina State's Paul Herr Track, four members of the Bentley University men's outdoor track team broke a 12-year-old school record in the seldom-contested 4x1500 meter relay.

Freshman Sean Nee (West Yarmouth, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. HS) and junior Conor Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) combined with seniors John Drago (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) and Craig Robinson (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough HS) for a time of 16:34.58. That bettered the record set at the same meet in 2001 by about 11 seconds and put the Falcons tenth of 11 in the event, behind nine Division I teams.

Nee ran the opening leg in 4:09.1, Higgins posted a 4:11.5, Drago ran a 4:06.6 over the third leg and Robinson closed in 4:07.1.

Bentley also competed in the 4x100 relay Saturday at Raleigh, with junior Eric Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn./West Hartford HS), freshman Edy-Elliot Uthman-Olukokun (West Warwick, R.I./West Warwick HS) teaming with seniors Bryan Carton (Norwell, Mass./Norwell HS) and Derek Sit (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley HS) for a time of 43.43. That put the Falcons 17th of 27.

Bentley also competed in the Tufts Snowflake Classic Saturday with the team's highest finishes coming in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Freshman Tom Dean (Portland, Maine/Deering HS) was second in 10:47.15 and sophomore Ned Furtney (Canton, Conn./Canton HS) followed in third (10:50.82).

Freshman Connor Hichens (Sharon, Mass./Sharon HS) was ninth of 34 in the long jump (20'3") and sophomore Anthony Charter (Hubbardston, Mass./Quabbin Reg. ) was eighth of 15 in the triple jump (41'8.5").

It was a scoring meet and the short-handed Falcons placed 14th of 24 with 16 points.

Next Saturday,  Bentley will compete in the George Davis Invitational at UMass-Lowell.
