Kennedy Breaks School Record in 200 during BU Terrier Classic

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Eric Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn./Northwest Catholic HS) set a school record and sophomore Anthony Charter (Hubbardston/Quabbin Reg. HS) also excelled for the Bentley University men's indoor track team during Saturday's Boston University Terrier Classic at the BU Track and Tennis Center.

Kennedy was 33rd of 198 in the 200 meters with his time of 22.23 seconds breaking the Bentley standard set by Mike Vatti at the 2012 New Englands by two-hundredths of a second. It was the third best by a Division II athlete in the meet, and also put him fourth on this year's Northeast-10 Conference performance list. He also had the third best Division II time in the 60 meters during the meet, placing 47th of 100 in 7.31 seconds.

Charter placed ninth out of 50, and second among Division II competitors, in the long jump with his leap of 21 feet, nine inches a new personal best. He also placed 32nd in the triple jump, with his distance of 40 feet, 2.5 inches third best by a Division II athlete. Teammate Connor Hichens (Sharon/ Sharon HS), a freshman, had Division II's best jump, clearing 41 feet, 1.5 inches to finish 28th overall.

Senior John Drago (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) moved to number eight on the NE-10 performance list after running the 3,000 meters in 8:36.75. That put him 51st out of 146 participants in the event. Classmate Rob Dextradeur (Branford, Conn./Branford HS) finished third among Division II runners in the 5,000, with his time of 15:23.75 placing him 47th overall.

A number of new PRs were set during the course of the meet with the list including freshman  Sean Nee (West Yarmouth/Dennis-Yarmouth HS) in the 1000 (2:34.71), sophomore Christian Connolly (Kingston/Silver Lake Reg. HS) in the 800 (2:01.43) and sophomore Steven Maffiolini (Southington, Conn./Southington HS) in the 400 (51.09).

Next Saturday, Bentley will compete in the Dartmouth Winter Classic.
