Seven Bentley Athletes Earn All-Region Honors from USTFCCCA

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Seven members of the Bentley University outdoor track team have earned Division II All-East Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

They are senior David Kusmin (Westwood/Westwood HS), sophomore Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS), freshmen Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) and Brittany Pandolph (Tewksbury/Tewksbury HS), and a trio of juniors: Steven Long (Allston/Newton North HS), Keisha Johnson (Randolph/Randolph HS) and Evelyn Marrero (Amsterdam, N.Y./Amsterdam HS).

This is the first time that the USTFCCCA has announced All-Region teams in outdoor track. All-Region distinction was accorded to the top five from each region in individual events and each individual who ranked in the region's top three in a relay event.

Marrero and Kusmin each achieved All-East status in two events. Marrero ranked fourth in the 5,000 meters (18:13.73) and fifth in the 10,000 (40:06.95). Kusmin was number five in the region in both the long jump (22'2.25") and the triple jump (14'11.5").

Long and Pandolph were both among the region's best in the shot put, with Long fourth (46'1.25") and Pandolph fifth (39'9.75). Johnson ranked fourth in the triple jump (36'0") and Nichols was fifth in the 5,000 (18:17.51).
