Kennedy, Reagan Post 2nd-Place Finishes During Bernard Solomon “Husky” Invitational

DEDHAM, Mass. -- Freshman Eric Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn./Northwest Catholic HS) and senior Sean Reagan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus HS) had the highest finishes for the Bentley University men's outdoor track team during the Bernard Solomon "Husky" Invitational Saturday at Northeastern University's Solomon Track.

Reagan was second of 21 in the 5,000 meters with his time of 15:25.12 a personal best. He finished about 23 seconds back of Jones Hampton of the University of Hartford.    

Kennedy's day featured a time of 22.73 seconds in the 200 meters, good for second place in a 41-runner field. He trailed Anderson Emerole of Hartford by 0.51 seconds. Kennedy was also 10th of 51 in the 100 meters (11.46) and a member of the Falcons' 4x100 relay team, which was third of six in 44.11 seconds. That foursome also included senior David Kusmin (Westwood/Westwood HS), sophomore Derek Sit (Wellesley/Wellesley HS) and junior Mike Vatti (Easton, Pa./Easton Area HS).

Kusmin also had a pair of sixth-place finishes, in a field of 12 in the long jump (20 feet, 5.25 inches) and in a field of 15 in the triple jump (43 feet, 4.25 inches).

Bentley dominated the 10,000 meters with four of the top eight finishers. Junior Tom Witherell (Los Alamos, N.M./Los Alamos HS) led the parade of Falcons with his time of 32:42.78 good for fourth of 16. Sophomore Sean Maguire (Essex, Vt./Essex HS) was fifth (32:50.35), senior Robby Ballenthin (Lexington/Lexington HS) was sixth (32:55.18) and junior Gabe Campbell (Queensbury, N.Y./ Queensbury HS) finished eighth in 33:07.53.

Junior Steven Long (Allston/Newton North HS) had a pair of top ten finishes in the field events. His throw of 44 feet, 7.5 inches in the shop was good for fifth out of 21, and he was ninth of 27 in the discus (124 feet, 5 inches).

In the hurdle events, senior Tim Walant (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North HS) was fourth of seven in the 110 meters, finishing in 15.92 seconds, and sophomore Grant Nolan (Concord, N.H./Concord HS) was fifth of nine in the 400 (1:03.11).

Also posting sixth-place finishes for Bentley were junior Dan Fava (Malden/Malden Catholic HS) in the 800 (1:59.70) and sophomore Craig Robinson (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough HS) in the 1500 (4:06.74).

Senior James Roche (Arlington/Arlington HS) was ninth of 30 in the 400 meters (53.53 seconds) and classmate Dan O'Connell (Medfield/Medfield HS) was ninth of 31 in the 1500 (4:12.12).

This coming week's schedule includes the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton on Friday and the Tufts Invitational Saturday.
