Drago Earns All-New England Honors in 3000

BOSTON, Mass. -- John Drago (Avon, Conn./Avon HS), a sophomore on the Bentley University men's indoor track team, earned All-New England honors Saturday with an impressive performance in the 3000 meters at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

Drago finished fifth of 23 in the race, behind four Division I runners. His time of 8:32.97 was a personal best by 3.77 seconds and good for eighth place on Bentley's all-time list in the event.

Senior David Kusmin (Westwood/Westwood HS) finished 15th overall in the triple jump, and second amongst Division II competitors, with a distance of 42 feet, 5.25 inches.

Friday night, senior Steve Gendron (Lowell/Lowell HS) set a personal best in the 5000 meters by nearly six seconds, with his time of 15:17.75 placing him 23rd out of 34  participants, including fourth among Division II runners.

Sophomore Bryan Carton (Norwell/Norwell HS) was third among Division II runners in the 500 meters, with his time of 1:07.15 good for 23rd of 29 overall.

In the overall results, Bentley was 30th among 35 scoring teams.
