Trueb Captures Mile at Northeast-10 Championships; Bentley Finishes 6th as a Team

BOSTON, Mass. -- Continuing an outstanding indoor season, Bentley University sophomore Curtis Trueb (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester HS) ran to a first-place finish in the mile at the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships Thursday night at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Trueb, the first Bentley man to win gold at the conference's indoor championships in five years, finished 2.45 seconds in front of runner-up Macky Lloyd of Saint Rose.  His time of 4:09.81 broke the meet record by more than four seconds.

Trueb wasn't the only sophomore to have a strong showing for the Falcons. John Drago (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) was second in the 5,000, crossing the finish line about four-and-a-half seconds after winner Glarius Rop of AIC. Drago's time of 14:53.31 was a PR by 16 seconds. Craig Robinson (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough HS), with a time of 8:45.77, was third in the 5,000.

Bentley's other third-place finish was recorded by junior Steven Long (Allston/Newton North HS), with a throw of 46 feet, 1.5 inches, a personal best by nearly three inches.

In the triple jump, senior Dave Kusmin (Westwood/Westwood HS) placed fourth after registering his best effort of the season, 43 feet, 2.5 inches.

Sophomore Rob Hennessy (North Andover/North Andover HS) set a PR of 2:36.05 in the 1000 meters to place sixth. He was also part of Bentley's 4x800 relay team that was sixth in 8:22.59.

As a team, Bentley finished with 36 points to place sixth out of nine teams.  Southern Connecticut (158) won the team championship with Stonehill (105) and American International (103) second and third, respectively.
