Bentley Defeats Stonehill 6-1 as Five Players Win Twice

WALTHAM, Mass. – Five different players won in both singles and doubles as the Bentley men's tennis team knocked off Stonehill 6-1 on Monday afternoon.

The Falcons improved to 3-2 in Northeast-10 play with two matches left in the regular season. They will visit Saint Michael's on Wednesday and host Southern New Hampshire on Saturday.

Graduate student Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket), junior Jordan Soifer (Stamford, Conn./Westhill), senior Alex Novins (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley), and sophomores Gabe Horwitz (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lake Oswego) and Diego Ramos (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) all won in both singles and doubles.

In the doubles matches, Aulson and fellow grad student Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) won their third straight match in the No. 1 flight, with a 6-2 victory over Christian Duffy and Louis Coppi.

Soifer and Novins defeated Guillaume Duhil de Benaze and Luke Nickerson 6-2 in the No. 2 match and Horwitz and Ramos got the better of Juan Riano Rojas and Ben Simmons by a 6-4 score.

In singles, Aulson moved to within one win of 50 career singles victories with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Coppi in the No. 2 match. Soifer defeated Nickerson 6-1, 7-6 in No. 3 and Novins defeated Rojas in No. 4.

Horwitz got the better of Simmons in the No. 5 match by a 7-6, 6-2 count and Ramos defeated Liam Bevens 6-1, 6-2 in No. 6.

The Falcons are now 11-8 overall on the season. Their match against Saint Michael's on Wednesday starts at 3:00 PM.
