Bentley Sweeps Assumption 7-0 in NE10 Opener
WALTHAM, Mass. – Four players won in both singles and doubles as the Bentley men's tennis team won its NE10 opener over Assumption on Tuesday 7-0.
Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket), Max Bonte (Bradenton, Fla./St. Stephen's), Alex Novins (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) and Gabe Horwitz (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lake Oswego) each won in both singles and doubles.
Novins and Bonte combined for a 6-0 victory in No. 2 doubles over Assumption's Alan Nguyen and Ethan Hall. Aulson and Horwitz were 6-2 winners in No. 3 doubles over Lucas Caira and Michael Butkus.
Bentley then swept the six singles matches. Grad student Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) led the charge with a 6-0, 6-4 victory in No. 1.
The rest of the lineup saw wins from Aulson in No. 2 (6-0, 6-2), Bonte in No. 3 (6-2, 7-5), Jordan Soifer (Stamford, Conn./Westhill) in No. 4 (6-3, 7-5), Novins in No. 5 (6-1, 6-3) and Horwitz in No. 6 (6-0, 6-0).
The Falcons improved to 9-6 overall and 1-0 NE10 with the win. The team's next match is Saturday at Le Moyne.
