WALTHAM, Mass. – A total of 11 student-athletes from the Bentley University women's and men's tennis teams were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, it was announced recently. Both squads were also named an All-Academic Team by the ITA.

To be named a Scholar-Athlete, a player must have a GPA of at least 3.50 for the current academic year. The All-Academic Team award is given to any squad that had a cumulative GPA of 3.20.

From the women's side, named a Scholar-Athlete were Kayla Anghinetti (Seekonk, Mass./Bishop Feehan), Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport), Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington), Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull), Rachel Madden (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford), Rachel Petrini (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand), Susan Stowe (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) and Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift).

On the men's team, Kendall Au (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex), Nicholas Hatcher (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) and George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) all earned Scholar-Athlete recognition.

Anghinetti, a senior this past year and team co-captain, majored in accountancy with a minor in liberal studies, and posted an 8-2 overall record.

Brandow, a junior transfer with a corporate finance and accounting major, went 10-3 in singles and 7-1 in Northeast-10 matches in her first year at Bentley. She was named third team All-Conference in No. 6 singles.

Fabianski finished her sophomore season with a team-high 13 singles wins, and was the team's primary No. 2 singles player. She was named the NE10 Player of the Week on March 14 of this year. She was also named third team All-Conference in No. 3 doubles for the 2015-16 campaign.

MacLean, who majors in accountancy, was one of the Falcons' top doubles players in 2016-17. She posted a 12-7 combined record, and helped Bentley defeat Merrimack in the first round of the NE10 playoffs with a win in No. 3 doubles, along with Tiffany Suchanek.

Madden was a sophomore this past season, and she majors in actuarial science, with a minor in public policy. She went 6-2 combined in singles and doubles.

Petrini, a team co-captain and senior, majored in marketing with a minor in psychology. She was the team's primary No. 1 singles player this past season, and posted a 9-9 record in No. 1 doubles with Katie Tynan.

Stowe was recently named to the NE10 Women's Tennis Academic All-Conference team for the second straight season. An actuarial science major, she was also named All-Conference this season for her play on the court for the third time in her career. She earned third team All-Conference honors in No. 5 singles.

Von Oldenburg, a junior in the 2016-17 season, majors in finance with a minor in computer information systems. She went 3-3 in singles, with wins against NE10 rival New Haven, Winona State and Albany State.

Au, just a freshman last season, went 10-3 in singles matches and was a perfect 5-0 in NE10 matches. That saw him named both first team All-Conference in No. 6 singles, and to the All-Rookie team. He is majoring in finance.

Hatcher, who wrapped up his sophomore season, is majoring in accountancy with a minor in economics. He went 5-2 in singles matches, with a perfect 3-0 mark in NE10 play. Those wins came against Saint Anselm, Franklin Pierce and Saint Michael's.

Samander, a junior, has been Bentley's primary No. 2 singles player the past two seasons. He went 9-9 in that flight this season, while he also teamed with Brendan McCarthy as the team's No. 1 doubles pair. He is majoring in management, with a minor in finance.

Both the men's and women's teams had successful seasons overall. The women's team set a program record with 15 victories, and advanced to the NE10 semifinals. The men's team advanced to the semifinals as well for the ninth straight season.
