Bentley Sweeps Singles Matches in 7-2 Win over USciences

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Bentley men's tennis team swept the singles matches in a 7-2 victory over USciences at the USTA Training Center on Wednesday as part of the team's spring break trip.

The Devils won two of three in doubles, with Bentley taking the No. 2 match from Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick) and Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) to get on the board.

The Falcons though took control in singles, as they won all six matches in straight sets. Junior Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) was in the top spot, and defeated opponent Jake Sosonkin, 6-3, 6-1. In the No. 2 match, George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) picked up his second win of the trip, 6-3, 7-5 over Nathan Nguyen.

Sophomore Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) blanked his opponent, Tajay McLeod, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 match. While freshman Kendall Au (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) continued his strong start to the spring season with a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Chandat Phan in the No. 6 match.

The win bumped Bentley's overall record on the season to 4-5. They will conclude their spring break trip tomorrow, with a Northeast-10 Conference match against Saint Anselm in Orlando.
