Bentley Set to Host Le Moyne in Northeast-10 Championship

WALTHAM, Mass. - Bentley will open up the Northeast-10 Men's Tennis Championship on Wednesday afternoon at home against Le Moyne in a quarterfinal match after finishing the regular season with a 7-3 conference record. The match is set to get started at 2:00 pm.

The Falcons will be the No. 4 seed against the No. 5 seed Dolphins. Bentley won the regular season meeting 7-2 way back on Oct. 4 in Syracuse, behind two out of three wins in doubles play, and five out of six wins in singles play.

Bentley will be looking for its first NE-10 title since 2011, when they claimed the second of back-to-back championships. They have advanced to at least the semifinals every year since then.

In the win over Le Moyne earlier in the season, sophomore Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) won both of their matches. McCarthy in No. 1 doubles with George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) and in No. 1 singles, and Granat in No. 2 doubles and No. 4 singles.

Granat, twice the Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week, finished the regular season with the team's co-best record in conference singles matches at 8-1, along with classmate Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex), who is also a two-time Rookie of the Week pick this season. Junior Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick) produced the second best singles record on the squad with a 7-3 mark, played mostly in the No. 4 position.

The top two singles spots this season have been usually occupied by McCarthy and Samander, respectively. That pair comprised Bentley's top doubles team this season, with a 7-3 record in No. 1 matches.

The other quarterfinal match on Wednesday will pit the No. 3 seed Adelphi against the No. 6 seed Stonehill. The winners of the two quarterfinal matches tomorrow will advance to the semifinals on Friday, where top-seed Southern N.H. and No. 2 seed Merrimack await.

The championship match will be played on Sunday, May 1 at the highest remaining seed.
