Samander Picks Up Northeast-10 Player of Week Honor

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the second time this season Bentley sophomore men's tennis player George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) was named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Samander had a 4-0 week as he helped the Falcons to NE-10 wins over Saint Michael's (8-1) and Stonehill (8-1). He and partner Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) won both of their No. 1 doubles matches; 8-5 against Saint Michael's and 8-1 against Stonehill.

In singles action Samander was 2-0 as well, playing from the No. 2 spot. Against the Purple Knights he was a 6-0, 6-4 winner and against the Skyhawks claimed a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

On the season, Samander is 3-2 in NE-10 singles matches and he and McCarthy are 4-1 in doubles.

Bentley is 11-4 overall and 4-1 in the Northeast-10 entering Tuesday's match vs. Adelphi.
