WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University men's tennis players George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) and Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) have garnered the weekly awards from the Northeast-10, it was announced Monday. Samander was named Player of the Week and Fuca Rookie of the Week.

Both were important contributors to Bentley's 9-0 win over Wentworth on Saturday at the Cedardale Athletic Club as they both won their singles and doubles matches.

Samander was a 6-1, 6-2 winner in the No. 1 singles match, while Fuca dropped just one game in the No. 3 spot, running out a 6-0, 6-1 winner. In doubles, Samander combined with Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) to take the No. 1 match by an 8-2 score. Fuca teamed with fellow freshman Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) to take the No. 2 match 8-6.

The win improved Bentley's overall record to 7-1 on the season. The team is back on the courts on March 14 to open its spring break trip against Saint Cloud State in Orlando.
