McCarthy Named Northeast-10 Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University sophomore Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) was named the Northeast-10 Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday. It's the second time in his career he's earned the award.

In the Falcons' only match of the week, he helped them to a 7-2 win at Le Moyne in the team's first Northeast-10 match of the season. He started by teaming with George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) for a victory in the No. 1 doubles match, defeating their opponents by a 9-8 score. In singles play, he claimed a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the No. 1 match.

Early in the season McCarthy had a strong showing at the UConn Invitational, defeating two Division I opponents to advance to the semifinals of the singles tournament he was competing in.

Bentley has three matches left this fall, starting with a visit to Holy Cross on Thursday.
