Men’s Tennis Records Second Straight Sweep, Defeating Franklin Pierce

WALTHAM, Mass. – Three different players won in both singles and doubles, as the Bentley men's tennis team recorded its second straight sweep on Saturday, this time beating Northeast-10 rival Franklin Pierce 9-0.

After sweeping Saint Michael's on Tuesday, the Falcons swept the Ravens to improve their records to 9-6 overall and 5-2 in NE-10 matches.

Kamil Pilch (Wroclaw, Poland/IMG), Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) each won both of their matches.

Pilch teamed with senior Alex DeMuth (Shaker Heights, Ohio/University School) for an 8-6 win in the No. 1 doubles match, and McCarthy and Samander combined for an 8-1 victory in the No. 2 doubles match.

In singles, Pilch had to go to three sets to defeat Chris Brewer in the No. 1 match, 7-5, 2-6, 10-6. McCarthy swept Jared Taylor 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 match, and Pilch defeated Drew Bennett 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 3 match.

Sophomores Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick) and Samuel Klau (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Robinson School) joined McCarthy with sweeps of their singles matches; Rosa in the No. 4 match and Klau in the No. 5 match. 

Bentley will go for its third straight win tomorrow when they host Endicott in a non-conference match.
