Men's Tennis Defeats Northeast-10 Rival Assumption

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley won of four of six singles matches as they defeated Assumption 5-4 Wednesday afternoon in the spring Northeast-10 opener for both teams.

Assumption took a 2-1 lead into singles play after winning the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches. Bentley's point came in the No. 3 match, as senior Andrew Waddington (Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) and freshman Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick Academy) defeated Tom Knight and Michael Breen 8-0.

In singles senior Jimmy Rindo (Lowell, Mass./Lowell) outlasted Chris Waugn in the No. 1 match, 5-7, 7-6, 6-2. Bentley's other points came in the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 matches.

Sophomore Sam Frye (Redlands, Calif./Redlands) defeated Matt Surpenant 6-0, 6-3, while Rosa picked up his second win of the day with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Breen in the No. 5 match. Sophomore Evan Chomka (Warwick, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) dropped just one game in beating Tom Knight 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 match.

Bentley stays unbeaten in NE-10 matches at 4-0 with the win. They return to the courts on Saturday afternoon to host Endicott.
