Bentley Sweeps Southern New Hampshire 5-0 in NCAA First Round

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University men's tennis team began its NCAA Tournament campaign with a 5-0 win over Northeast-10 rival Southern New Hampshire in the opening match of the East Region #2 Monday afternoon.

The Falcons, seeded third in the region, won the rubber match against the sixth-seeded Penmen after the teams had split their previous two matches this season, including a 5-4 Bentley win in the NE-10 finals.

Bentley took command after winning all three doubles matches, requiring them to win just two in singles.

The number two pairing of juniors Alec Spycher (Sarasota, Fla./Saint Stephens Episcopal) and Zach Tuckman (Kinnelon, N.J./Morristown Beard School) won their match first, beating sophomores Mitchell Dobek and Jared Wright 8-4. Junior Victor Suski (West Hartford, Conn./William Hall) and freshman Andrew Waddington (Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) won their match next, topping junior John Niland and sophomore Tim Hamilton 8-5 in number three doubles. Sophomores Lucas Wever (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Chapel School) and Rodrigo Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Chapel School) finished the doubles sweep, defeating freshmen Juan Arango-Camp and Alex Mukdaprakorn 8-6 in number one doubles.

When the match moved to singles, Spycher and Suski made quick work of their opponents to win Bentley the match. Spycher beat Wright 6-1, 6-0 in number four singles and Suski bested Hamilton by the same score in number five singles.

The Falcons will now take on either second-seeded Queens (N.Y.) or seventh-seeded University of the Sciences Tuesday at noon in the East Regional #2 final for a trip to the NCAA Championships.
