Bentley Tops Merrimack 5-4, Wins Share of Regular Season Title

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Bentley University men's tennis team won a three-way share of the Northeast-10 regular season championship on Saturday with a 5-4 victory over Merrimack in the regular season finale for both teams.

The Falcons were the outright regular season champions last season after going 11-0, and they share the title this season with Southern New Hampshire and Merrimack, all of which finished 10-1 in the conference. Due to tiebreakers, they'll try to defend their NE-10 Tournament title as the third-seed, with the Penmen the top-seed and Merrimack the second-seed.

Sixth-seeded Le Moyne will be Bentley's first round opponent on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The Falcons swept them 9-0 on April 10.

In doubles, sophomores Lucas Wever (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Chapel School) and Rodrigo Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Chapel School) defeated Chris Barnhart and Max Eppley in the top-flight 8-3, and junior Victor Suski (West Hartford, Conn./William Hall) and freshman Andrew Waddington (Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) bested Petar Golijanin and Liam Hoare in the third-flight by the same score.

The winners for the Falcons in singles were Ribeiro over Max Eppley in the second-flight 7-6, 6-2, junior Alec Spycher (Sarasota, Fla./Saint Stephens Episcopal) over Tim McHugh in the fourth-flight 6-2, 6-2 and Waddington over Hoare in the fifth-flight 6-2, 6-0.
