Bentley Opens Defense of NE-10 Title with Sweep of Assumption
WORCESTER, Mass. – Bentley University opened its defense of its Northeast-10 title with a 9-0 sweep of Assumption Wednesday afternoon in men's tennis play. It was the first dual match of the season for both teams.
The doubles play was highlighted by Bentley's number one team of sophomores Rodrigo Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Chapel School) and Lucas Wever (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Chapel School) staying unbeaten in conference play, dating back to last season, with an 8-5 win Tariq Sheikh and Nathan La Fond.
In singles, Wever and Ribeiro stayed unbeaten in conference play with wins in their respective matches, while freshman Andrew Waddington (Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) continued his impressive start to his career with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Matt Drolet in fourth singles.
Bentley is back in action on Oct. 2 at Pace.
