Waddington’s Big Day Highlights Bentley Men at ITAs

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Bentley University freshman Andrew Waddington (Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) had a big day Sunday at the ITA Men's Tennis East Regional, winning the "B" doubles tournament with junior Alec Spycher (Sarasota, Fla./Saint Stephens Episcopal), and advancing to the semifinals of the "B" singles tournament.

Waddington and Spycher won three matches on the day, beginning with a win over Tim McHugh and Jon Ravenelle of Merrimack in the quarterfinals. The duo beat Daniel Sullivan and Ken Scheiffer  of Le Moyne 8-4 in the semifinals and won the tournament over Sean Pahler and Petar Golijanin of Merrimack after that team defaulted.

Waddington was one of two Falcons to advance to the semifinals of the "B" singles tournament. He won three matches on the day, including an 8-4 win over Nicholas Hyzak of Stonehill in the quarterfinals. Third seeded Rodrigo Ribeiro won three matches as well and advanced to the seminflas with an 8-4 win over Seppi Hutter of Philadelphia University in the quarters.

Spycher lost in the quarterfinals of the "A" singles tournament to Andrey Boldarev of Concordia, 6-0, 6-1.

The tournament will conclude on Monday.
